Standing Rock, North Dakota, served as the battleground between racist, corporate land thieves and those protecting it. On December 5th, 2016, the Sioux tribe and the water protectors had an eviction notice. Local authorities, which seemed more akin to an army, arrived to enforce the order. Then thousands of veterans came to the aid of those of us who were protesting. They told us that they had vowed to protect this country from all enemies, foreign and domestic.
The day ended peacefully with President Obama's announcement that the Dakota Access Pipeline couldn't go further until there was an investigation of the effects of this construction on the environment.

Malteser International
Cité Soleil is an extremely impoverished and forgotten commune within Port-au-Prince, Haiti. Malteser International’s approach to aid has been through creating self-help initiatives. They don’t clean the garbage from the canals; they distribute equipment and train locals on how to do it. Malteser doesn’t bring food; instead they provide seeds and farming knowledge to help those in need to feed themselves.
These are a few photographs of their ongoing work in Cité Soleil.
Death By a Thousand Cuts is a documentary about how a Dominican Republican park ranger's gruesome murder leads to a journey into Dominican-Haitian charcoal trafficking, mass deforestation, and escalating human conflict on the border.
I took these pictures when I wasn't looking through the documentary camera's viewfinder.
